The park for dancing bears near Belitsa is one of the most unusual and inspiring places for ecotourism in Bulgaria. It is a humane bear protection project, supported by the foundation of the French actress Brigitte Bardot, which gives a second chance at life to animals held in captivity for many years.
Main features of the park
- Location and areaA: The park is located at 1 345 m above sea level, not far from the town of Belitsa, and covers an impressive area of 120 hectares. Its outer boundary is over 3 km long.
- InhabitantsA: There are more than 20 bears living here, including several "foreigners" who came from Serbia and Albania. The animals are divided into 7 zones according to their character and their relationships with each other - some are friendly and curious, others more solitary and reserved.
- InfrastructureA: The park has two information centres and a specialised medical centre for animals. In the information rooms, visitors can watch films and hear the stories of each bear.
- ObservationA: Meeting bears is completely safe and extremely interesting - each animal has its own character and habits that will impress you.
